Safety On Campus

Algonquin College Security Services would like to remind all members of the campus community of some measures they can take to ensure their safety and safety of the College community.

  • Report incidents of concerning, threatening, inappropriate, or violent behaviour to Security Services or the police.
  • Contact Security Services immediately if you notice a suspicious person, behaviour or package on campus.
  • Be aware of your nearest emergency telephones, which are located throughout the campus, or call ext. 5000 in an emergency.
  • Report lost or stolen keys and access cards to Security Services.
  • Do not wedge open doors that are locked or require swipe card access.
  • Don’t be distracted by your cell phone or other portable devices while walking about campus.
  • Walk with a friend or co-worker when possible, there is safety in numbers.
  • Stop and challenge strangers in your work area. If in doubt, call Security Services.
  • If studying or working late in the evening consider using the Walk Safe Services. Walk Safe Escorts are available 24 hours a day, 7 days/week – to arrange an escort contact ext. 5010 in advance.
