Pause-Break • April 15-19

Campus Ministry in partnership with local churches will be serving light snacks and drinks to give support and encouragement to students and staff during exam week, Monday to Friday, 10:00am-2:00pm, from April 15 to April 19 in the foyer of E Building.

Come every morning to have a cup of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and fruits and other snacks, and get spiritual encouragement and learn about programming in the Spiritual Centre.

Spiritual Centre Open Drop-In Hours

The Spiritual Centre is open Monday – Friday, 8:00am-10:00pm. Students and staff are welcome to drop-in and use the space for individual prayer and reflection.

Campus Ministry Chaplain

Campus Ministry ChaplainOur Christian chaplain, Yuriy Derkach, is available by appointment to students and employees of all faiths and beliefs for online spiritual counselling. Contact him by email to set up an appointment: derkacy@algonquincollege.com .

Muslim Prayer

The multi-space (E211) will be available for individual prayer during Spiritual Centre opening hours.

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship Programming (E204)

InterVarsity is a student-led faith community on campus where students can experience real belonging and friendship, investigate faith questions in a safe space, and learn about the life and teachings of Jesus together.

Christian Hour – Wednesdays • 12pm-2pm (E204)

Drop in for casual discussion about life and faith and pray together to receive encouragement.


Bible Study and Social Outreach Events – Fridays 6pm-9pm (E204)

We study the teachings of Jesus to learn from his example and discuss how to live better lives with these values. Anyone curious about the life and teachings of Jesus is welcome. Our social outreach events happen once a month on Friday instead of the study. We desire to serve the greater Algonquin College community through our outreach events.

Learn Lectio Divina (E204)

Tuesdays • 12pm-1pm 

 Come and learn a simple method of prayerful reading of Scripture which dates back to the early centuries of Christianity. Learn about the steps of this useful Biblical tool, practice it with a Scriptural reading, and take some time to note, reflect and share.

Bible Study Group

This group meets to study and discuss the word of God and share interpretations of the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. Explore what it means to live according to God’s instructions and inspire each other to live a Christian life.

Introduction to Buddism (E204)

These Introduction to Buddhism workshops, hosted by the Diamond Way Group of Ottawa, will be held on the first and third Tuesday of every month at 6:00pm in E204 and everyone is welcome.

Offering an accessible and modern style, these practices work with people’s confidence, using every situation in life to develop. Newcomers are encouraged as the group always presents basic information and the meditations are guided in English.

No registration required.

Come for tea and talk! Relax and re-energize with a fresh cup of tea and explore culture, spirituality, faith and creativity through positive conversation. 

Self-Realization Workshop (E204)

Fridays • 11:00am-12:45pm

A workshop focused on discovering who you are, including your strengths, gifts, talents, and passions. You will learn about your mission, vision, values, purpose, and how to be successful. For further information, please contact Yuriy Derkach at derkacy@algonquincollege.com.

Jummah Prayers (E211 and E204)

A congregation Muslim prayer held weekly.

We are hoping to add programming for Hindu, Sikh and Jewish faith expressions, as well as mindfulness, meditation and yoga. Kindly contact Sue-Anne at spiritualcentre@algonquincollege.com to express your interest.
