Activities and Events

All activities in the Spiritual Centre are open to everyone, students and staff, unless otherwise stated. All dates and times are subject to change.

Hours of operation: The Spiritual Centre will be open Monday-Friday, between 8 am-8 pm. The Centre will be closed on weekends.

Self-Realization Workshop (E204) • 11 am-12 pm • May 25 – August 10

A workshop focused on discovering who you are, including your strengths, gifts, talents, and passions. You will learn about your mission, vision, values, purpose, and how to be successful.

Creative Visualization (E204) • 12 pm-1 pm  • May 25 – August 10

This is a meditative creative session to explore your vision, mission, and purpose in life by creating a personalized vision board and visualizing your life.

Bible Study Group (E204) • 2 pm-3 pm • May 12 – August 11

This group meets to study and discuss the word of God and share interpretations of the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. Explore what it means to live according to God’s instructions and inspire each other to live a Christian life.

InterVarsity Bible Study & Community Action (E204) • 6 pm-8:30 pm

Every Tuesday, our student-led community will meet to either study scripture or discuss practical ways to put this study into action. We will alternate weeks – study and discussion, and offer a time for worship and prayer. Light snacks provided.

 

Wednesday

InterVarsity’s Creative Prayer (E204) • 12 pm-1:30 pm

Come experience different ways to communicate with God and find some peace between classes.  This drop-in experience is centred around the Christian perspective of prayer, however all are welcome to join and learn. The first hour offers a different guided prayer exercise each week. The last half hour is self-guided with multiple prayer activities to try in a calm and welcoming space.

Lunch ‘N learn (E204) • 2 pm-3 pm • May 20 – August 12

Wednesdays • 2 pm-3 pm 

Join Campus Ministry, Woodvale Pentecostal Church, Campus Rush, Metropolitan Bible Church, Julian of Norwich Anglican Church and Bethany Baptist Church for free food and scripture reading, with an opportunity to learn about Christianity!

Thursday

Uni-tea (E204) • 11 am-12 pm

Uni-tea is sharing conversation over a cup of tea! Relax and re-energize with a fresh cup of tea and explore culture, spirituality, faith, and creativity through positive conversation.

Learn Lectio Divina (E204) • 3pm-4pm • May 29, June 26, July 30

Thursdays • 3 pm-4 pm 

Come and learn a simple method of prayerful reading of Scripture from the Catholic tradition. This practice dates back to the early centuries of Christianity. Learn about the steps of this useful Biblical tool, practice it with a Scriptural reading, and take some time to note, reflect, and share.

This is an opportunity for staff of Algonquin College to come together and read instructions from Scripture and New Testament Letters for reflection and prayer.

 

InterVarsity Bible Q&A (E204) • 2 pm-4 pm

Fridays 2 pm-4 pm

We welcome anyone with questions about the Bible to come for a casual discussion. Whether you are curious about the Bible for the first time or are continuing to learn, this is a safe and judgement-free space to ask, listen, and learn.
