Ideas Corner: Print Shop Shipping Boxes & Envelopes Return for Reuse

Employees can help with shipping box and envelope “Reuse” (the second “R” in the common message – “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”) when they receive items from the Print Shop.

Look for the simple label as the reminder!

Cardboard box and envelope reuse cuts down on materials Algonquin College sends to off-site material recovery plants (the industry name is “MRFs”) with our waste hauler, Waste Management.

In addition, the return and reuse of these materials on-site for the next print order means the College saves money!

Ideas Corner: Recycle Whiteboard Markers & Pens

Reduce waste!

Recycle your used whiteboard markers and other writing utensils on campus.

Around the Ottawa campus, employees have set up drop off points for used whiteboard markers and other writing utensils.

Employees can drop these off at the various locations, or send them via internal mail.

Collection points:

CA524 (ACCE Building, Ottawa campus) Drop off times: Weekdays 7:30 am – 4:30 pm

T 107 (T Building) Drop off times: Weekdays 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

The used writing utensils recycled through the Staples / TerraCycle recycling program.

Employees interested in helping out with this program are encouraged to contact the members of the employee sustainability action team, See Earth Action Team for Sustainability (SEATS).

Collection boxes for dry whiteboard markers, pens and other office supplies can easily be set up at various locations around Algonquin College campuses to keep even more waste from the landfill.
