Originally from New Brunswick, Raymonde Hanson enjoyed a distinguished career in post-secondary education in Ontario. After obtaining her master’s degree at the University of Western Ontario, she taught at the University of Ottawa and served as Assistant Vice President of Nursing at the Ottawa General Hospital before joining Algonquin College in the 1980s.
Hanson spent over 20 years at Algonquin College, mostly as Vice President, Academic. During this time, she oversaw a period of tremendous growth for the College and acted as an advocate for colleges at all levels of government. After her retirement in 2009, Hanson continued to support Algonquin College and remained deeply connected to the community.
Established through a generous endowment in 2010, the Raymonde Hanson Bursary supports two Algonquin College students each year who are enrolled in two- and three-year programs and demonstrate financial need.
