Donor Appreciation Reception
The Donor Appreciation Reception 2025–26, held on June 10, 2026, brought together many people—including donors, guests, employees, and students—to celebrate the positive impact philanthropy has on our community. Ottawa Mayor, Mark Sutcliffe, also joined the celebration.
The event included two moving student speeches. Avery Laprade, a first-year Public Relations student, spoke first. “One of the biggest things I’ve learned this year is that growth happens when people believe in you,” she said. “And that’s exactly what your support does for students.”
The other student, Aidan Gower (Aircraft Maintenance Technician), shared how proud he felt when he received his donor-funded financial aid. “It meant a lot to be recognized for my academic excellence and to know that someone believes in what I’m working toward,” he said. “This support makes a huge difference.” Aidan is graduating this June and is excited about his career prospects.
Algonquin College thanked all donors and partners for their continued support at the event. “Thank you for believing in Algonquin College and thank you for the difference your generosity continues to make in the lives of so many,” said Claude Brulé, President and CEO. “You are truly helping our learners turn their hopes and dreams into lifelong success.”
Dr. Julie Beauchamp, Senior Vice President, Academic, offered the evening’s closing remarks. “Your support extends far beyond financial contributions,” she said. “It sends a powerful message to our learners that their aspirations matter, that their community believes in them, and that they are not pursuing their goals alone.”
