Skills students have at the start of co-op work term:

  • Windows and Linux Operating Systems
  • Computer Languages: Java (SE8): including J2EE, Android (including enterprise level), jUnit testing framework, RMI, Design Patterns, IDE’s: Eclipse and NetBeans and C++.
  • Web-focused Languages: HTML5, JavaScript, PHP and XML Computer Languages.
  • Database SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle administration, MySQL, SQL Server.
  • Intro level to data warehousing, BI and analytics.
  • Perform routine maintenance on a database.
  • Apply knowledge of networking concepts to develop, deploy, and maintain program code.

Suggested job titles:

  • Application Tester
  • Junior system and network installer and/or administrators
  • Technical support specialists
  • Customer service support representatives
  • Computer trainers
  • Hardware and software sales and support

Requirements to remain eligible for co-op:

This program offers two optional co-op work terms. Qualified students with a minimum GPA of 2.7 and must not have failed/missed any courses previous to work term can apply for a paid co-op employment to gain valuable work experience and build their network within the industry. Contact your Program Coordinator for specific qualification requirements.
