Skills students have at the start of co-op work term:
- Field data acquisition
- Interpretation of remotely sensed imagery, analytical image analysis
- Designing and developing databases using relational database management tools
- Skilled in the use of programming technology (Python scripting for geoprocessing, utility development and web application development with JavaScript/DoJo/jQuery, HTML 5 and CSS)
- Skilled in the use of Client/Server/Cloud architectures for GIS
- Project management (leading projects, Gantt charting, spiral project management and agile methods, documentation of processes)
- Analysis and data visualization, cartography
Suggested job titles:
- GIS Analyst
- Geophysical Assistant
- Geospacial Technician
- Data Analyst
- Geomatics Engineer
Requirements to remain eligible for co-op:
This program offers one optional co-op work term. Qualified students with a minimum GPA of 2.7 and must not have failed/missed any courses previous to work term can apply for a paid co-op employment to gain valuable work experience and build their network within the industry. Contact your Program Coordinator for specific qualification requirements.
