Step 5: Rank your student
Ranking Students After Interviews
After the first round of interviews, you will need to login to HireAC and rank your candidates in order of preference.
Please visit our important co-op dates page on our website:
www.algonquincollege.com/coop-career-centre/important-co-op-dates/
To Rank Your Students:
Step 1:
- Log into HireAC – HireAC.ca
- Click “Cooperative Education” on the left side of the menu on your dashboard
- Click the green “View Rankings” button
Step 2:
- Click “Submit Rankings”.
- Use the drop-down list under the ‘Ranking’ column to assign a rank for each candidate.
Assign a numerical ranking to students you wish to offer a position.
Select “Not Selected for HireAC” if you do not wish to hire a student.
Students will have 24 hours to accept or decline the job offer. If decline, the offer will automatically be sent to the next candidate in your ranking order.
Please Note: When finished with your ranking you have to click “Save Rankings” at the bottom of the page to save your selections.
Standards for Ranking:
- All students must be ranked (ie: with a number or marked as “Not Ranked”).
- The number of #1 ranking must match the number of positions being offered. Only one student can be ranked #1 for each position. (If you have two positions available, then you can choose two #1’s and so on).
- Numbers must be sequential with no gaps (ie: 1,2,3,4, etc.)
- Rankings to #2 and beyond will not be sent to the student until your top choice has confirmed her/his decision.
- If you have selected “not ranked” for a candidate, you will be prompted to select a reason that will be shared with the candidates.
For detailed step-by-step instructions, see the Ranking-Guide
Step 6: Finalizing the offer
Upon receiving the student’s acceptance email, contact the student directly to discuss next steps (e.g. salary, start date, security clearance forms, etc.)
