The 20th annual Career Networking Fair, which is coming up on February 13, is the largest recruitment event at Algonquin College, and it keeps getting bigger and better! At last year’s event, a whopping 75 employers networked with the 2100 students and graduates who attended. Whether you’re looking for summer employment, a full time position or a co-op job, the Career Networking Fair is where you need to be.
A number of big-name employers that are participating this year include: Various Federal Government departments: Health Canada, Shared Services, PSC, NRC, CRA; NAV Canada; RCMP; MD Financial Management; Ottawa-Carleton District School Board; and TD Place to name a few. We have come to the end of 2017, and the end of the fall semester. It’s been a full year of blogging for us here in the Co-op Department—in fact, we’ve written somewhere around 84 posts since January, which work out to something like 67,000 words this year!

It’s chilly outside, the holidays are approaching, and life is super busy—that’s right, it’s winter again! For those of us who work in offices, winter comes with its own set of unique challenges and difficulties. When you spend winter working in an office, it can sometimes start to feel like everyone around you is sick, and you haven’t seen the sun in a month. In that kind of environment, it’s really easy to forget to take special steps to stay healthy during the coldest part of the year.

Last night at the Best Ottawa Business Awards, four post-secondary co-op departments in Ottawa were thrilled to name Kinaxis for Best Performance Co-op, sponsored by the Algonquin College School of Business. The Algonquin College Co-op Department with our friends at Carleton University, the University of Ottawa, and La Cité chose Kinaxis in gratitude for all they’ve done for co-op students.
As an Ottawa-based supply chain management company, Kinaxis employs co-op students from all four post-secondary institutions. Kinaxis gives students awesome experience in a variety of roles. This year alone, they’ve hired dozens of students to work on various projects in the organization.
