Course Material Services

Canadian publishers and producers help Library and Archives Canada (LAC) build the national collection. Through the legal deposit program, LAC collects materials created in Canada and intended for sale or public distribution.

AC Press facilitates participation in the legal deposit program and will complete all deposit forms, and submit copies of each eligible AC Press title, to Library and Archives Canada (LAC) for inclusion in the national collection. Please note that depositing material with LAC does not mean that you have registered copyright.

ISBN and SKU Numbers.

AC Press maintains a list of ISBN numbers that can be associated to an AC Press title.

For print on demand contracts, or for existing self-published works to be produced by AC Press, the publisher or author can provide their ISBN to AC Press.

Print titles that do not meet the requirements for Library and Archives Canada legal deposit do not need an ISBN number and will be assigned a retail SKU number instead. These materials are typically for Algonquin College use and are bought and sold through AC Press & Connections – The Campus Store for Algonquin College students.

Examples of titles that would not meet LAC legal deposit requirements include: course notes, course materials or course manuals that have been created by an Algonquin College employee. These materials are typically not bound and are produced as 3-hole punched or loose-leaf pages and shrink-wrapped. No Author agreement would be needed, and they would not be used outside of the Algonquin College. The assigned SKU number will be printed on the back of these titles.
