Scholarships

Most scholarships have no application process. The selection is completed by Financial Aid and Student Awards in recognition of academic excellence.

Awards

Some awards have an application process. For those with an application, details on the application and submission deadline can be found in the Award description. The selection is completed by the Academic Departments in recognition of academic excellence and extracurricular activities, such as volunteerism and leadership.

123Dentist Award

Awarded to students in Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting (Levels I and II) programs with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrate enthusiasm, dedication, and passion for the dental profession. Preference given to students who complete work placement at any 123Dentist location.

Algonquin College Massage Therapy Award of Excellence

Awarded to a graduating Massage Therapy student who has demonstrated professionalism, communication and clinical reasoning by incorporating an evidence based-informed approach to treatment and client care. (WRI)

Algonquin College Museum Studies Award

Presented annually to a student in the Applied Museum Studies program who has contributed to the research, preservation or presentation of Ottawa’s local history. (Community Studies)

Applied Museum Studies Preservation Award

Recognizes the accomplishments and contributions of an Applied Museum Studies student who has contributed to conservation through public outreach and advocacy. (Community Studies)

Applied Museum Studies Technical Service Award

Presented annually to an Applied Museum Studies student who has demonstrated a commitment to museum technical services through academic and/or extracurricular activities. (Community Studies)

Barry Robinson Advocate Award

Awarded to a student enrolled in the Recreation and Leisure Services Program, who exemplifies a passion to helping others, advocates with empathy, and demonstrates leadership in the classroom or the community. (WRI)

The Builders’ Lodge Masonic Award

Awarded to students enrolled in their first year of the Practical Nursing program who have made a difference in the community through their volunteer work. Volunteer work would not include student placements and/or co-op placements.

Canadian Federation of University Women – Nepean Scholarship

Awarded to a female student in the Practical Nursing program and in the Occupational Therapy Assistant program with a high GPA.

Canadian Museums Association (CMA) Award of Merit (Non-Monetary)

This award (2-year CMA Membership & Certificate) is presented annually to a graduating AMS student who has demonstrated good standing in academic work and commitment to the museum field through extra-curricular activities. (Community Studies)

Child Therapy Resource Group Award

Awarded to an Early Childhood Education student enrolled in the School of Health and Community Studies who has made a difference in the life of a child through their volunteer work. Volunteer work would not include student placements and /or co-op placements. (Community Studies)

Child & Youth Care GPA Scholarship (Non-Monetary)

Awarded to the student who obtained the highest overall GPA in their 1st year courses. (Community Studies)

Child & Youth Care GPA Scholarship (Non-Monetary)

Awarded to the student who obtained the highest overall GPA in their 2nd year courses. (Community Studies)

Child & Youth Care GPA Scholarship (Non-Monetary)

Awarded to the student who obtained the highest overall GPA in their 3rd year courses. (Community Studies)

Community Award of Excellence (Non-Monetary)

Awarded by Pearson Education Canada to a 2nd year Child and Youth Worker student who has demonstrated excellence in their field placement. (Community Studies)

Community Living Ontario Angus M. Robertson Award

Awarded to a 2nd year student of the Developmental Services Worker program who has demonstrated a commitment to community living principles, academic excellence and excellence in community field placement. (Community Studies)

Corey Mac Nason Award

Awarded to a student in the Library and Information Technician program who shows promise in cataloguing, classification or special collections, or who overcame obstacles while studying at Algonquin College. (Community Studies)

CURAVITA Health Group Award

Awarded to a student in their last semester of study in the Massage Therapy program with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and who demonstrates a high level of professionalism skills, attention to excellence in patient care and service, and is community oriented.

David Loye Award

Awarded to a student enrolled in Level 6 of the Applied Museum Studies program with a 3.8 GPA or higher who demonstrates outstanding commitment to the cultural industry through extra-curricular activities. (Community Studies)

David Phillipe Duguay Scholarship for Academic Achievement

Awarded to a mature student in Level 2 of the Social Service Worker program with a high GPA. A mature student is defined as someone who is 25 years of age at the time they are considered for the Scholarship. (Community Studies)

Dentalcorp for Excellence in Dentistry Award

Awarded to a level 2 or 3 Dental Assisting student who has demonstrated a passion for a career in the field. (Allied Health)

Dushy Inthranathan Spirit of Life Award

Awarded to a student upon completion of the 4th semester in the Early Childhood Education program in recognition of their academic achievement despite personal challenges. (Community Studies)

Elsevier Health Science Scholarship (Non-Monetary)

Awarded to a Practical Nursing student with the highest GPA (Nursing class) of their graduating year. (Nursing Studies)

Elsevier Health Science Scholarship (Non-Monetary)

Awarded to a Personal Support Worker student with the highest GPA (PSW class) of their graduating year. (Nursing Studies)

Fit Accompli Award

Awarded to a student in the Fitness and Health Promotion program after completion of 2nd semester with the highest GPA and who has demonstrated the best volunteer assistance to fellow classmates or volunteers in the community. (WRI)

FOPLA Award for Diversity and Equity in Public Librarianship

Awarded to a student entering level one in the Library and Information Technician program who is a member of a racialized or Indigenous community and who demonstrate interest in pursuing a career in a public or community-based library. Applications will be open from October 1 to October 15.

H. Sterling Howie Memorial Leadership Award

Presented to the 1st year Child and Youth Worker student who demonstrates commitment to their studies and leadership in the community and classroom. (Community Studies)

Heidi Friesen-Kobayashi Award of Excellence

Awarded to a student in the Social Service Worker program who has demonstrated a commitment to the community or program through professional engagement and by making a difference in their field placement. (Community Studies)

Henry Schein Canada Award

Awarded to a Dental Assisting student who is in good standing. The recipient demonstrates leadership and enthusiasm, is a team player, has good ethics and participates in class activities. (Allied Health)

Henry Schein Canada Community Dental Health Award

Awarded to a student in the Dental Hygiene program who demonstrates the following attributes: leadership, community awareness, organizational skills, team player, demonstrates enthusiasm, and participates in external opportunities. (Allied Health)

Hu-Friedy Golden Scaler Award (Non-Monetary)

Awarded to two dental Hygiene students who have integrated their knowledge with exceptional clinical skills to become a safe, effective and ethical health care provider for entry to practice. (Allied Health)

Hugh Nelson Annual Award

Awarded to a graduate in the Developmental Services Worker program for outstanding academic and field placement performance. (Community Studies)

Iode Charlotte Parry Nursing Award

Awarded to a student in the second year of the Practical Nursing program who best exemplifies the wonderful characteristics of Charlotte Parry: leadership, volunteerism and compassion. (Nursing Studies)

Irene Deveney Award

Awarded to a student who has worked to achieve his/her goals in the Practical Nursing program while managing other life challenges. Recipient should also demonstrate determination, compassion and ethical behaviour.

Library and Information Technician Peer Recognition Award (Non-Monetary)

Awarded to a 2nd year student by their peers for outstanding support to their fellow students. (Community Studies)

Library and Information Technician Program Awards (Non-Monetary)

Awarded to a 1st and 2nd year student in the Library and Information Technician program for highest standing in core subjects. (Community Studies)

Lippincott Book Award (Non-Monetary)

Presented to a graduating student of the Massage Therapy program, nominated by their peers, as being one who exemplifies outstanding achievement as a student of massage therapy. The nomination is based upon the academic and clinical achievements, as well as their contribution to the education of their classmates. (WRI)

Massage Addict Academic Award for Excellence in Massage Therapy

Awarded to a first year student in the Massage Therapy program with the highest GPA. The scholarship has been established by Massage Addict. (WRI)

Maurice Shea Award

Awarded to a graduating student in the Practical Nursing program who is a mature student and demonstrates compassion. (Nursing Studies)

Natalie Meggison Award of Excellence

Awarded to a student in the Library and Information Technician program or the Information Resource Management program who can demonstrate commitment to technical services or client services. The recipient should also approach learning with respect and curiosity and who serves the profession with enthusiasm. (Community Studies)

Ontario Association of Library Technicians Recognition Award (Non-Monetary)

Awarded to an outstanding student in the Library and Information Technician program. (Community Studies)

Ontario Museum Association (OMA) Award of Merit (Non-Monetary)

This award (OMA Membership & Certificate) is presented annually to a graduating AMS student who has demonstrated good standing in academic work and commitment to the museum field through extra-curricular activities. (Community Studies)

Ottawa Art Gallery Conservation Award

The successful Applied Museum Studies candidate will complete conservation treatments on two OAG works. (Community Studies)

Ottawa Dental Society (ODS) Award (Non-Monetary)

Awarded to the Dental Assistant student who maintains high academic standing, demonstrates superior skills in clinical, exemplifies the spirit of helpfulness indicative of a health care professional in the community. (Allied Health)

Ottawa Dental Society (ODS) Award (Non-Monetary)

Awarded to the Dental Hygiene student who has performed at an exceptional level in academic subjects, clinical activities, community placement assignments, voluntarily participated in extracurricular activities supporting fellow students, contributed to ongoing Dental Hygiene program improvement, and demonstrated qualities of leadership expected of a practicing health care professional. (Allied Health)

Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club Award

Presented annually to a student in the Applied Museum Studies program who has contributed to the appreciation of local history through exhibition and display. (Community Studies)

Paul Duggan Award

Awarded by their peers to a 3rd year student in the Child and Youth Worker program who has a demonstrated passion for fellow students and clients. (Community Studies)

Practical Nursing Lippincott Book Award (Non-Monetary)

Awarded to a graduating student of the Practical Nursing program, nominated by faculty, as being one who exemplifies outstanding achievements as a student of Practical Nursing. The nomination is based upon academic and clinical achievements, as well as their contribution to the education of their classmates. (Nursing Studies)

ProResp Award

Awarded to a student enrolled in the graduating term of the Respiratory Therapy program after successful completion of clinical placements, who exemplifies motivation, dependability, reliability; demonstrated passion for and compassion in delivering quality clinical respiratory care; and, interpersonal and team skills evidenced in interaction and actions with patients and members of the health care team. A letter from the recipient’s employer must be submitted to demonstrate the above criteria. (Allied Health)

Recreation and Leisure Services Award

Awarded in recognition of a student who has demonstrated community involvement, is an engaged student who exemplifies leadership and has a strong work ethic and passion for helping others. (WRI)

Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario (R.P.N.A.O.) Award for Student Excellence (Non-Monetary)

Awarded to a Practical Nursing student who demonstrates academic achievement, clinical strength, initiative, peer support, participation in student affairs and a demonstrated support for their professional affiliation. (Nursing Studies)

Steve Hon-Ying SETO Memorial Scholarship in Nursing

Awarded to a student who has achieved the highest GPA in the Practical Nursing program.

Rural Recreation Association Award

Awarded to a student in the Recreation and Leisure Services program who has demonstrated leadership, creativity, and has contributed to the advancement of recreation in a rural/small community. (WRI)

School of Health and Community Studies Convocation Award

Awarded to a graduating student for consistent high achievement throughout the program, above average performance in the practice setting and leadership in student activities.

Susan Davies Scholarship in Nursing

Awarded to a second year First Nations, Metis or Inuit student(s), preferably a female, who has achieved the highest GPA in the Practical Nursing Program. (Nursing Studies)

Suzanne Lemaire Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to a student(s) enrolled in the Respiratory Therapy program who graduated with the highest GPA. (Allied Health)

Syd Ford Award

Awarded annually to a student(s) enrolled in the Social Service Worker program who most exemplifies the spirit of the program in both college and field placement settings. (Community Studies)

Trudell Award

In recognition of the student who has demonstrated consistent improvement throughout the Respiratory Therapy program. (Allied Health)

Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa Award

Awarded to a graduate that exemplifies professionalism and passion as a Child and Youth Worker. (Community Studies)

VSCAN Award

The VSCAN Award is for a second-year student enrolled in the Veterinary Technician Program with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrated a desire to excel in Anesthesia and Neurology at the Ottawa Campus.

The Veterinary Specialty Clinic for Anesthesia and Neurology is a state-of-the-art Neurology and Imaging practice committed to providing excellent care in Neurology, Anesthesia, and Diagnostic Imaging.
