Scholarships

Arnold Smith Royal Commonwealth Society Scholarship- Ottawa Chapter

Awarded to an International student entering level 2 with a high GPA. Recipient should be a student from a Commonwealth country other than Canada.

David Phillipe Duguay Scholarship for Academic Achievement

Awarded to a mature student in Level 2 of the Social Service Worker program with a high GPA. A mature student is defined as someone who is 25 years of age at the time they are considered for the Scholarship. Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents and international students.

Gary Neville Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to two students, in their second year of studies, one in Broadcasting – Radio, one in Broadcasting –Television, who can demonstrate academic merit. Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents and international students.

Out of this World Scholarship

Awarded to a student in the Mechanical Techniques -Plumbing program with a high GPA. Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents and international students.

Paramedic Scholarship of Excellence

Awarded to a full-time student who has completed the 2nd semester of the Paramedic program with the highest GPA. Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents and international students.

Revera Living Scholarship

Awarded to a graduating student in the Retirement Communities Management Program with the highest GPA. Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents and international students.

Awards

David Loye Award

Awarded to a student enrolled in Level 6 of the Applied Museum Studies program with a 3.8 GPA or higher who demonstrates outstanding commitment to the cultural industry through extra-curricular activities. Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents and international students.

Mercury Award of Excellence

Awarded to a graduating student in the Animation program who has shown professionalism in the field, a positive attitude, works well with others, an is a good animator that continues to improve. Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents and international students.

Out of this World Award

Awarded to a female student enrolled in the Mechanical Techniques-Plumbing program who demonstrates a high level of plumbing skills and a strong overall academic record. Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents and international students.

Sarah Grantier Award

Awarded to a second year Public Relations student who demonstrates strong written and verbal skills, good public speaker, is a team player and has the ability to bring out the best in people. Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents and international students.

We Saved You a Seat Entrance Awards

International women who want to pursue studies at Algonquin College in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) programs are encouraged to apply online for We Saved You a Seat entrance awards. Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents and international students.

Hydro Ottawa Award

Awarded to a female student(s) enrolled in the first semester of the Powerline Technician program. Recipients commit to maintaining a 3.0 grade point average (equivalent to the letter grade B).

The Financial Aid and Student Awards Office also administers a limited number of bursaries for the International Education Centre. International students are not eligible for entrance bursaries, but international students can apply for regular bursaries on ACSIS at the beginning of each semester.

Most scholarships have no application process. The selection is completed by Financial Aid and Student Awards in recognition of academic excellence.

Application Exceptions

Ontario Remembrance Scholarship

Awarded to a student in remembrance of the victims of the Ukrainian airliner that crashed near Tehran, Iran (2020). Victims of the crash included 57 Canadians. Among the victims, 34 people were employed at or studying in universities and colleges in Ontario. Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents and international students.
