Financial Aid Assistance

Contact your assigned Financial Aid Officer if you are in financial difficulty.

SA Food Cupboard

The Food Cupboard is a supportive service funded by the Algonquin Students’ Association and other community members, which recognizes the financial concerns of students and is here to make a difference. The Food Cupboard provides students who require the services with food and other basic necessities.

Part-time Employment

The Employment Support Centre can assist you with your resume, job search and interview skills. Consider contacting them to assist you in securing employment.

On-campus job opportunities are available through the Employment Support Centre or through the CSEP program if you are an OSAP recipient.

Budget Counselling

EBO Financial Education Centre is an Ottawa non-for-profit organization that assists students with financial planning. If you need advice about your individual or your family’s financial situation, their counselling services are for you. Confidential and free of charge.

Ottawa Community Loan Centre

The Ottawa Community Loan Fund (OCLF) is a non-profit organization working for financial inclusion in the Ottawa area. They provide educational services to disadvantaged groups by working with community partners for on-site workshop delivery. They also provide character-based microloans for academic purposes.

Provides information regarding various social services within the City of Ottawa including, but not limited to:

Employment and Financial Assistance, Emergency Shelters, Daycare, Housing, Immigration information, Youth services, Social and Community funding available.

The Snowsuit Fund

The Snowsuit Fund is an Ottawa-based charity that raises funds for the purchase and distribution of snowsuits to needy children, 15 years and under.

Toy Mountain

If you are on Ontario Works or Ontario Disability Support Program, your worker can register you for Toy Mountain.

If you are not on OW or ODSP, please call 2-1-1. They will be able to direct you to one of the city’s Community Resource Centres or they can tell you the best place for you to register as there are many organizations that will register on your behalf.
