The ALGONQUIN COLLEGE BURSARIES listed on this page are specifically for programs in the School of Hospitality and Tourism.

Funds for bursaries marked with an asterisk are matched through the Ontario Trust for Student Support (OTSS). To be eligible, you must be a Canadian Citizen and have been a resident of Ontario for at least 12 consecutive months, and must not have attended full-time post-secondary studies in the year prior to submitting your bursary application.

FALL

Bill and June Joe Bursary*

Awarded to students enrolled in the Culinary Management program or the Hospitality – Hotel and Restaurant Operations program who can demonstrate financial need.

Chances ‘R’ Bursary*

Awarded to students enrolled in the Culinary Management and the Hospitality – Hotel and Restaurant Operations programs who can demonstrate financial need.

Colio Estate Wines Inc. – Girls Helping Girls Bursary*

Awarded to students enrolled in the Hospitality – Hotel and Restaurant Operations program who can demonstrate financial need. Additional consideration will be given to female students.

Direct Energy/Sens Foundation – Bill Patterson Memorial Bursary*

Awarded to students enrolled in the Business – Marketing, Marketing Management, Sport Business Management and the Broadcasting-Television programs who can demonstrate financial need.

Ed Ireland Hospitality and Tourism Bursary*

Awarded to students enrolled in any School of Hospitality and Tourism program who can demonstrate financial need.

GMS (Georgopoulos, Maglaris, Shilson) Memorial Bursary*

Awarded to students enrolled in the Hospitality – Hotel and Restaurant Operations program who can demonstrate financial need.

Grapes for Humanity Bursary

The Grapes for Humanity Bursary has been established to provide five (5) bursaries of for students with demonstrated financial need who identify as BIPOC. The Bursary will be awarded to students in their second level of study in the Sommelier or Bartending program.

Harry Reece Spirit of Life Bursary*

Awarded to students enrolled in the Hospitality – Hotel and Restaurant Operations program who can demonstrate financial need. Special consideration to students who have completed or is currently taking the Sommelier course.

Hospitality Student Success Bursary

Restaurant International is a culinary teaching restaurant located at Algonquin College. It serves as a hands-on learning laboratory for students enrolled in Algonquin College’s various programs in the Hospitality area.

The Hospitality Student Success Bursary is awarded to three (3) students enrolled in any of the programs listed below who can demonstrate financial need:

Kiwanian Alex Dayton Seniors Activity Centre Bursary*

Awarded to students enrolled in the Hospitality Management – Hotel and Restaurant Management, and Tourism – Travel Services program who can demonstrate financial need upon completion of Level 02.

Les Dames d’Escoffier Ontario Chapter Bursary

The Les Dames d’Escoffier Ontario Chapter Bursary has been established to support two (2) female students with demonstrated financial need who identify as BIPOC. The Bursary will be awarded to one (1) student in their second level of study in the Sommelier or Bartending program and one (1) student in their second level of study in the Culinary Skills program or second year of Culinary Management program at any campus where the program is offered.

Les Marmitons Ottawa-Gatineau Culinary Bursary

Awarded to students enrolled in the Culinary Skills program who can demonstrate financial need.

MBNA Canada/Sens Foundation Bursary*

Awarded to students enrolled in the 3 year Business Administration, or 2 year Marketing, or Sport Business Management program who can demonstrate financial need.

MKI Travel and Hospitality Bursary*

Awarded to students enrolled in the Travel Services, Hospitality Management – Hotel and Restaurant, Culinary Management or Event Management program who can demonstrate financial need. Special consideration given to students of Aboriginal, First Nations and Inuit background.

Ottawa Bluesfest Bursary*

Awarded to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management Degree (Honours) program who can demonstrate financial need.

Silver Hotel Group Bursary

Awarded to full-time students enrolled in any year of the Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management Degree (Honours) program who can demonstrate financial need.

Smart Serve Bursary*

Awarded to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management Degree (Honours) or the Hospitality Management – Hotel and Restaurant program who can demonstrate financial need.

Awarded to students enrolled in the Culinary Skills program (upon completion of Level 01) and students enrolled in the Culinary Management program (upon completion of the Level 02) who can demonstrate financial need.

Ottawa Restaurant Association Bursary*

Awarded to students enrolled in the Culinary Skills program and to Level 03 students enrolled in the Culinary Management program who can demonstrate financial need.

The Metropolitain Brasserie Hospitality and Tourism Bursary

The Metropolitain Brasserie Hospitality Bursary is awarded to:

  • 1 student in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of the Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management program, and
  • 1 student in 2nd year of the Hospitality – Hotel and Restaurant Operations Management Diploma program

The Bursary is open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, landed immigrants, and protected persons. Awarded in the Winter term in year one and in the Fall term in years 2 to 5.

In any year in which there is no qualified applicant, the funds shall be accumulated and awarded in the subsequent year, thereby increasing the number of recipients of the Bursary in the subsequent year.

Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management Bursary

Awarded to third-year students enrolled in the Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management Degree program who can demonstrate financial need.

Brookstreet Bursary

This Brookstreet bursary is being established to support the Hospitality and Tourism program. The Bursary will be awarded annually to (2) two students in the third year of the Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management Program.

Pat Hopp Memorial Bursary*

Awarded to (2) students enrolled in any of the following programs: Culinary Management, Hospitality Management – Hotel and Restaurant Management, or Tourism – Travel Services program who can demonstrate financial need.

Smart Serve Bursary*

Awarded to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management Degree (Honours) or the Hospitality Management program who can demonstrate financial need.

Wedding Palace Bridal Show Bursary*

Awarded to students enrolled in the Event Management program in Level 02 for the fall intake and Level 01 for the winter intake who can demonstrate financial need.

Awarded to Level 02 students enrolled in the Baking and Pastry Arts program who can demonstrate financial need.

Frank Grella Bursary*

Awarded to students enrolled in the Culinary Skills and Culinary Management program who can demonstrate financial need. Special consideration will be given to recipients who are active in the Algonquin Students’ Association.

Gay Cook Bursary*

Awarded to students enrolled in the Culinary Management program who can demonstrate financial need. Special consideration will be given to students who have completed the General Arts and Science, Food and Wine course.

Khadija Haffajee Syrian Refugee Bursary

Awarded to Syrian refugee students enrolled in one of the following programs: Baking and Pastry Arts, Baking and Pastry Arts Management, Culinary Management, Electrician (Construction and Maintenance) or Mechanical Techniques- Plumbing program who can demonstrate financial need.

Kurt O. Waldele Bursary*

Awarded to students enrolled in the Culinary Skills program who can demonstrate financial need.
