Registration Periods

There are three time periods when you can select or register in an elective. Registering early increases your chances of getting your preferred course.

Stage 1: Course Selection Period

June 1 to July 12, 2026

  • After paying or deferring your tuition fees, go to ACSIS and select your elective using the “Gen. Ed. or Program Electives” option.
  • Only electives available to your program will be displayed.
  • After this period closes, the Registrar’s Office assigns students to their selected courses.
Note: There is a short processing period after selection closes while course assignments are completed.

Stage 2: Course Registration Period

August 10 to September 7, 2026

  • Review your timetable in ACSIS to confirm you have received an elective from the selection period.
  • If you were not registered, or did not make a selection earlier, you may register directly using the Drop/Add/Transfer function in ACSIS.

Stage 3: Late Registration

September 8 to September 18, 2026

Getting Exempted from a GenEd or Degree Breadth

  1. Exemptions: If you have received an exemption for your General Education elective or Degree Breadth elective, you do not need to make a selection or register.
  2. Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR): provides college course credits by recognizing relevant learning acquired through paid employment, community work, independent study, on the-job training, volunteering and travel and leisure activities. If you have work and life experience that align with Algonquin course learning requirements, you could be eligible to receive course credits based on those experiences.
