Types of Offers

Algonquin sends a few types of offers. Read your offer letter carefully to understand which type of offer you have received.

Offer

Also known as “Acceptance”. You’ve met all the requirements and are accepted into the program without any conditions. All that’s left to do is Confirm on Ontariocolleges.ca and pay your $500 non-refundable deposit.

Conditional Offer

Also known as “Conditional Acceptance”. We are happy to save you a seat, however, we still require some things from you, these can be a portfolio, an assessment, a transcript, etc. Read the program page carefully as well as the admissions emails you receive. There are a number of deadlines to keep in mind if you have a conditional offer. Please visit this important dates page so you don’t miss an important deadline if you do we may release your seat to another applicant.

Alternate Offer

Although this is not the program you’d applied for, we offer it as an alternative program for you to consider. If you receive this type of offer there are no additional requirements to be met.

Alternate Conditional Offer

We offer this as an alternate option to a program you have applied to, however, there remain some admission requirements to be submitted in order to receive an “Offer”. To find out what is outstanding log in to ACSIS and click ‘View Application Status’.

Waitlist

A number of our programs are considered Highly Competitive, these programs typically receive a high volume of applications and in this case a waitlist is created for qualified applicants for whom there are not enough seats in the program. You may be sent an Offer of Admission off the waitlist until the first week of class. Have questions about the Waitlist? Visit our FAQ page.

If you are put on the waitlist you can apply to another program without affecting your position on the waitlist. You can have as many as three active applications to Algonquin at a time.

Have multiple offers? Read through some of the possible scenarios and find out what this means for you!
