Michael Power, based in Toronto, provides legal and consulting services to national and international clients on governance, technology, privacy and security-related issues. He has extensive experience providing legal and strategic advice in both the public and private sectors. During his career, he has been a partner with a national law firm and served as an executive responsible for privacy and security at a provincial healthcare agency.

Michael Power has written extensively on privacy and information security issues. He is the author of The Law of Privacy, published by Lexis-Nexis in 2013 as well as the Access to Information and Privacy Title of Halsbury’s Laws of Canada (2005 and 2011). He is also the co-author of the American Bar Association’s Sailing in Dangerous Waters: A Director’s Guide to Data Governance (2004).

Michael Power is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society. He also is a member of International Association of Privacy Professionals and currently serves on its Canadian Advisory Board.
