Program Fees and Funding

Students will pay their regular tuition to Algonquin College. Tuition at MTU will be waived. Students will be responsible for arranging for and paying for their own flights, accommodations, meals, etc.

OSAP Eligibility: While in Ireland, students will receive OSAP as if they were still here in Ottawa. This means that the amounts will not be adjusted for any difference in cost of living. There may be a couple points that need to be manually adjusted. Specifically, if a student is living at home in the fall term and then goes on exchange, it will be in their interest to let us know so we can ensure they get their “living away from home” allowance.

Additional Funding: Students who are Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents are eligible to apply for the guard.me Study Work Abroad Award. As the trip is more than 49 days in length students can apply to receive $3250.

Spring 2025 Co-op Placements AbroadThere may be an opportunity for students participating in the MTU exchange to complete their Spring 2025 Co-op placement with an MTU placement partner in Ireland (likely in another location other than Tralee). If this is of interest, please indicate so in the appropriate spot on the exchange application form. Please note that placement is not guaranteed, even if selected for the exchange.

Students may also wish to consider completing their Summer 2025 co-op placement in another international location. If so, students will be responsible for locating their own placement but may wish to speak to their program coordinator regarding potential placement contacts.
