Student Experience

What to Expect

Film and Media Production, delivered in a 42-week compressed format, is a hands-on program that provides students with the opportunity to work on all facets of a film production. Courses are offered in cinematography, production, editing, audio, scriptwriting and more.

Work-Integrated Learning

You will work on everything from music videos to documentaries, creating a portfolio of your work as you progress through the program. All the while you will be gaining hands-on experience with the equipment and processes used in the film and screen-based media production industry.

The program concludes with a red carpet premiere event where your films will be screened in our Algonquin Commons Theatre. Friends and family are encouraged to attend.

Student Work

Ottawa’s a Drag, a short film produced by our Film and Media Production students, was recently aired on CBC. The film was included in the Ottawa Reel Shorts episode, part of CBC’s Absolutely Canadian series.

The short is now available on CBC’s streaming service Gem.

Congratulations to our Film students Karolina, Gagan, Chadi and Jack!
