Pride Week 2020: Message from the President

On behalf of Algonquin College, it is my pleasure to welcome our learners and employees to Campus Pride Week 2020 (September 28 to October 2). I will be officially launching this year’s festivities on Monday morning at a small flag raising ceremony alongside the President of the Students’ Association. The event will be streamed live for the wider community to attend virtually.

While this year’s Campus Pride Week will be conducted virtually, the dynamic list of events will bring our entire community together and allow us to stand alongside our 2SLGBTQ+ learners, employees and allies to celebrate, share and learn.

Algonquin’s core values include Caring and Respect, and we live by those words with our actions every day. Inclusion and diversity make us stronger. We are committed to being an institution that removes all barriers to success – where opportunities are open to everyone equally.

As part of its ongoing efforts to promote diversity, Algonquin continues to implement 2SLGBTQ+ initiatives, including recently renewing its membership with Pride at Work Canada, which includes access to the job board, monthly learning webcasts, and advisory services.

Celebrating our annual Campus Pride Week is another way we demonstrate our respect for diversity at Algonquin College, and it is in that spirit that I encourage everyone to participate in the exciting schedule of virtual activities running this week.

Sincerely,

Claude Brulé
President, CEO
Algonquin College
