Algonquin College students to “Cause a Scene” with climate-focused mural flash mob
Posted on Thursday, November 13th, 2025
Indigenous-led dialogue, live VR-assisted murals, and AR activations turn campus into a living canvas.
What
Algonquin College students will “cause a scene” in the DARE District with a live, climate-themed mural flash mob that begins with an Indigenous led, multigenerational dialogue on caring for the planet.
Funded through a CICan Climate micro grant and delivered by the Social Innovation Lab and the Algonquin College Makerspace, the Cause a Scene activation will see:
- 55 Illustration and Concept Art students transform the glass walls of the DARE District using 574 paint markers, laser cut stencils, and augmented reality (AR) overlays.
- Students wearing pass-through VR headsets as they draw live on glass, using mixed reality to place their digital designs at full scale on the windows as they work.
- Student teams from Interactive Media Design and Business Management & Entrepreneurship are capturing the day with professional cameras, gimbals, lights, and microphones.
