Algonquin College culinary learners help fight food insecurity by preparing 2,100 meals for those in need

OTTAWA (March 3, 2026) – Algonquin College learners in the culinary arts program volunteered their time during reading week on March 2 to prepare 740 meals for the Shepherds of Good Hope and 1,434 meals for the Ottawa Food Bank in partnership with La Tablée Des Chefs: The Solidarity Kitchen – Next Generation Edition project. The prepared meals will feed vulnerable people in the Ottawa area who are seeking emergency food assistance.

Algonquin College hosts successful 8th annual ACCE Industry Networking Event

Ottawa, ON (Feb.19, 2026) – The Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence (ACCE) welcomed industry professionals, alumni, faculty and learners yesterday evening for the 8th Annual ACCE Industry Networking Event, sponsored by RBC.

Held in Minto Hall at the College’s Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence (ACCE) at the Ottawa Campus, the event featured a dedicated Industry Partners session followed by a three-hour networking event that connected learners directly with employers from across the construction and related sectors.

Ottawa, ON (Feb. 17, 2026) – Algonquin College is proud to announce a new partnership with Siemens Healthineers, a global provider of healthcare equipment, solutions and services with a development and manufacturing site in Ottawa. The partnership began on Jan. 29, 2026, when Siemens Healthineers visited the College’s Ottawa campus and joined the community in celebrating the 50th anniversary of the College’s Nursing programs.

To mark this special occasion, Siemens Healthineers donated epoc® Blood Analysis Systems (epoc Reader and epoc NXS Host) to Algonquin College. These highly advanced devices are made locally in Ottawa for distribution around the world.

New Sewing Lab at Algonquin College Ignites Culture, Creativity, and Opportunity

Soaring Circle, a national Outaouais-based non-profit, is proud to announce the launch of its Sewcase Skills Lab within Algonquin College’s Mamidosewin Centre to empower and support over 1,000 Indigenous students at Algonquin College in a way that is respectful and reflective of Indigenous cultures.

Soaring Circle is equipping the Mamidosewin Centre with stateoftheart Janome sewing machines, specialized equipment, textiles, curriculum support, and mentorship from Indigenous creators and global brand experts, bridging cultural learning with industry exposure. OTTAWA (Jan. 15, 2026) – In the fall of 2025, Algonquin College Victimology student Jessica Glass was presented with $5,000 towards her tuition after being selected as the winner of the College’s annual tuition contest.

“Winning the contest is really crazy. It’s really going to take a lot of stress off everything for me. I’m going to be able to be more involved in the community and I don’t have to worry about anything financially. I’m just really excited to start this new chapter of my life,” said Glass.

Algonquin College Bachelor of Commerce program hosts inaugural Sales Case Competition with Fastenal Canada Sponsorship

On Wednesday, Nov. 26, the DARE Incubator space in C278 was standing room only and abuzz with nerves and excitement, as six third-year Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) (Honours) learners presented their sales case pitches to a panel of external judges from Fastenal Canada and Invest Ottawa.

Fastenal Canada’s generous sponsorship provided students with a hands-on learning experience with a realistic business-to-business (B2B) sales case.

The six-week program saw over eight School of Business and Hospitality alumni return to coach current students and give back to the next generation of competitors during their training process.

OTTAWA (Nov. 26, 2025) – On Nov. 13, Algonquin College hosted an Indigenous-led climate dialogue that inspired 55 Illustration and Concept Art students. Their murals and AR activations remain on display in DARE District until mid-December.
