Having a foundational understanding of counselling principles provides practitioners with the ability to maintain professional helping relationships and build rapport with clients. Students explore counseling techniques, focusing on active listening and client empowerment through strength-based approaches. Students are introduced to skills for understanding client behavior, facilitating self-development, and building therapeutic relationships in addictions and mental health contexts. Through peer discussions, experiential exercises, and developing multimedia resources, students gain a foundational knowledge of counselling practices.
