PERIOPERATIVE PATIENT CARE

This course is part of the following part-time on campus and/or online program(s):

Students review surgical anatomy in order to better understand diagnostic and surgical procedures. Select surgical procedures and instrumentation from each speciality are covered. Students plan perioperative care that includes pre-operative assessment, intraoperative implementation and post-operative evaluation of care. Students are introduced to safe, responsible practices of equipment and supply handling. Implementation and documentation of care are practised. Scrub nurse and circulating nursing roles are integrated throughout the course.
