Chef David Graduated from AC Online and Became a Role Model to His Family
If you can dream it, you can do it! That’s the mentality that drove Chef David to AC Online.
Ottawa native, David works as a chef with a major organization. When he isn’t cooking up a storm and smoking delicious dishes, David dreams of a bigger, brighter future in the kitchen, “I took some Culinary Management courses at Algonquin College and then I wanted to further my position in the kitchen and start managing multiple facilities. So I took the AC Online Office Administration – General program.” AC Online empowers students to create a course load specifically catered to their schedules from anywhere in the world.
David wasn’t sure he’d have time to enrol in AC Online in the first place but, knowing he’d have flexibility to work on his own time was a significant highlight, he explains, “The thing I liked about doing AC online was I was able to control learning at my own pace.”
Time management is everything and AC Online allowed David to work around his busy schedule while providing a structured learning experience to complete his schoolwork. It also made for some great family bonding time, “I found that my lessons and assignment formed a sort of community with my family. They [provided] input when I needed it. Working with my family became very important because I wanted to try and show them that, even at my age, I could still get good grades and still try and encourage [my daughters] to get good grades in their school as well.”
Having a great support system can make all the difference but perseverance is key when it comes to making your dreams come true, “When I started AC online, I didn’t know if I could do it. I didn’t know if I was going to have the time to do it between my work, my family and my sports, but I knew that I couldn’t give up. I knew this would help me get to where I want to be.”
Now a proud AC grad, David beamed that the Office Administration – General program taught him everything he’ll need to know to run a smooth operation, “The program will help me accomplish being able to manage multiple facilities […] and knowing how to interact with my staff and how to interact with customers.”
If you’re considering enrolling online, David’s got some advice for you, “There’s always time in the day to get something done. Take it one step at a time and it’ll all work out.”
Big things are brewing for David and continuing his education was the cherry on top. AC Online was a stepping stone in David’s culinary journey and we can’t wait to see what’s cooking!
