AC Online was well paced, the course load fair, and the support from the instructors gave me the push I needed to reach the finish line. As a stay-at-home, single parent AC Online enabled me to achieve my goals."

Kim, Emergency Management 2021

Kim proves it’s never too late to invest in your education

Before heading back to school, I was a Registered Massage Therapist for ten years, a mother of two boys, and an artist/photographer. However, when it came time to change careers, I found difficulty transitioning into a new career pathway. I decided it was necessary to update my skills and head back to school. This began a long and rewarding process where I could redirect my interest and passions into a career in Emergency Management.

While completing my BA, I developed an interest in Crisis Communication, so I participated in an internship at Niagara EMS under the direction of the Emergency Management Coordinator. After discussing with my supervisor my goals, interests, and my wish to continue my education in this field (I wanted a practical education to complement my theoretical education) they recommended AC Online to me.

The flexibility is, hands down, incredible when juggling family and volunteer work. The support after graduation has been phenomenal. My Instructors were available after graduation to assist in navigating the labour market, direct me to resources to help me in my current positions, and welcome me as a colleague. The staff made themselves readily available to answer and clarify any questions and were understanding of the demands that many of my classmates and I were experiencing with balancing educational demands and work/life responsibilities.

Online education is a perfect fit for working professionals looking to advance their careers while offering the flexibility to balance life and assignments. Also, navigating online portals, virtual meetings, and managing your time at home is a skill set that is imperative as many job positions require these soft skills.
