Degree Pathways

Articulation agreements or degree pathways are agreements between Algonquin College and other post-secondary institutions that facilitate recognition of prior post-secondary study and transfer credit or admission to upper levels of study. As a result, it may take you less time to complete your degree or, result in a reduced course load. This means that you may enter the job market sooner and potentially save time and money.

Our Early Childhood Education program offers several articulation agreements and degree pathway opportunities:

Algonquin College (Canada): Child and Youth Care; Graduates who maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 (B, 73%) and who can provide proof of 160 hours of work or volunteer experience with children and or youth in a recognized community agency will be granted 12/37 course exemptions and be admitted to the beginning of the second year of the advanced diploma program. Students can expect to complete their advanced diploma in an additional 2 years of full-time in-class study.

Algonquin College (Canada): Bachelor of Early Learning and Community Development (Honours); Graduates with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (73%, B), who complete and pass 3 bridging courses with a minimum grade of 63% (C) will be eligible for admission to the 3rd year of the 4 year degree. Students can expect to complete their degree in an additional 2 years of full-time in-class study.

Athabasca University (Canada): Bachelor of Health Administration (Post Diploma); Graduates may be granted up to 36/120 credits towards their degree, students can expect to complete their degree in an additional 3 years of full-time study. This program is available online and part-time.

Institute of Technology Sligo (Ireland): Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Early Childhood Care and Education; Graduates with a minimum GPA of 1.7 and who meet all other admissions criteria will be granted 120/240 credits towards their degree. Students must have completed 400 hours of supervised placement, complete 2 bridging courses, and complete Creative Studies C. Students can expect to complete their degree in an additional 2 years of full-time in-class study.

Institute of Technology, Carlow (Ireland): Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Early Childhood Education and Care; Graduates with a minimum CGPA of 60% (C-, 1.7/4.0) who meet all other admission criteria, will be granted 120/240 credits towards their degree at IT Carlow. Students can expect to complete their degree in an additional 2 years of full-time in-class study.

Institute of Technology, Tralee (Ireland): Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Care and Education; Algonquin College graduates of the Early Childhood Education Ontario College Diploma who maintain a minimum average of 60% (C-, GPA 1.7/4.0) GPA of 1.7/4.0 (C-, 60%) and who meet all admission requirements for the Institute of Technology, Tralee will be granted admission to Year 3 (Semester 5) of the BA (Ordinary) in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE). Students can expect to complete the BA in ECCE in one additional year of study after graduating from Algonquin College. Students who successfully complete Year 3 with a minimum grade average of 50% are eligible to enter the BA (Honours) in ECCE – two further semesters. This program is available in-class.

University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) (Canada): Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Educational Studies and Digital Technology; Algonquin College graduates with a minimum average of 73% (B, GPA 3.0) could be granted 20/40 credits towards their degree. Preference will be given to applicants with the best qualifications. Students can expect to complete their bachelor’s degree in 2 additional years of full-time in-class study after graduating from Algonquin College.

University of Ottawa (Canada): Bachelor of Education (Teacher Education program (primary/junior option); Graduates who also have a previously completed Bachelor’s degree can be admitted to the Primary/Junior option of the Bachelor of Education degree program. Students can expect to complete their B.Ed. in an additional 2 years of full-time in-class study.
