Algonquin’s Counselling Services Drop-in Groups

Drop-in groups are facilitated by Algonquin employees and are open to all students. These include:

– Photography – Connecting Through Perspective
– Studying in the Parent Zone
Group counsellingĀ boosts your skills, coping strategies, and support system by providingĀ a safe, supportive environment where you can share your experiences. It enhances your connection to others, and provides you with a variety of approaches and perspectives to help you deal with challenges.

Y Mind Canada

Y Mind Youth is a free seven-week mental wellness program for young people who are aged 18 to 30 and struggling with mild-to-moderate anxiety or stress. Anxiety can impact our lives by preventing us from doing what we want or need to do. It can also be an isolating experience. Ā This free program brings young people who have similar thoughts and feelings together. Participants learn evidence-based skills from trained mental health professionals and report feeling reduced anxiety, increased well-being and feeling less alone following the program.

Bounceback

BounceBack® is a free skill-building program managed by the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). It is designed to help adults and youth 15+ manage low mood, mild to moderate depression and anxiety, stress or worry. Delivered over the phone with a coach and through online videos, you will get access to tools that will support you on your path to mental wellness.

Telephone coaching sessions typically last 15-20 mins long and are usually scheduled every 2-3 weeks.Ā A referral is needed for the program.

Keel Mind

Keel Mind is a digital platform that provides mental health support to students at colleges and universities across Ontario at no cost. Delivered through secure text, audio, and video sessions, all appointments are confidential, easily accessible and offered online.

Through Keel Mind, you can access:

  • Self-Assessment: Complete their Self-Check to measure your burnout, stress, and fatigue. It’s a simple, non-clinical way to understand your well-being at your own pace.
  • Self-Help: Browse the Wellness Hub for articles, videos, and podcasts designed to support your well-being whenever and however you need.
  • Counselling: When you’re ready, connect with a Care Provider. Their smart-matching system recommends the top five providers so you can choose the one that feels right for you.
