How old do I have to be to take the program?
Students must be 19 years of age or older.

Are textbooks required?
No. All course manuals are provided for all students at no additional cost.

Is there a field placement?
Yes! Hands-on experience in a local bar, lounge, or Algonquin College’s Restaurant International is mandatory. Students demonstrate their communication, professionalism, deportment and teamwork skills.

Does the program provide a tasting component?
Yes! Sampling and taste analysis allows you to develop a deeper appreciation of the complexity and diversity found among liquor, liqueur, beer and wine.

Do I have exams in practical classes?
Yes, there are practical tests and final exams during the semester.

How long is the program and when would I start?
The program is 14 weeks and you can choose to start either in Fall (September) or in Winter (January).

Where are the job opportunities?
Graduates may find employment as bartenders in a variety of establishments including bars, restaurants, night clubs, convention centres, hotels and resorts. With further training, graduates may advance to positions as bar or food and beverage managers.
