How long is the program?
This is a two-year diploma program starting in September and January. Students entering the program build a foundation in business knowledge relevant to the marketing function. As they advance through the semesters, courses are designed to maximize real world, hands-on and experiential learning.
How is the program structured?
Non-Co-op program: Students start in September or January. Students have two back-to-back semesters followed by a one semester break and return for two back-to-back semesters.
Co-op program: Students must apply in Level 01 and meet the academic requirements. If accepted, the September intake has two continuous semesters, followed by a break in Spring, Level 03 in Fall, Co-op Work Term in Winter, and Level 04 in Spring. The January intake has three continuous semesters, Co-op January to April, followed by a return to campus for Level 04 in May until August.
Can I apply to Co-op?
Students apply to the Co-op stream during their first semester and must meet minimum academic requirements for acceptance. Co-op work terms are not guaranteed. Students must job search, interview, and secure a four-month, full-time, paid position. These work terms take place in the Winter term only, between Level 03 and Level 04. More information on applications and how to qualify is available during the first semester.
What would I learn?
The curriculum is designed to provide both marketing theory and applied learning, culminating with a comprehensive marketing plan project with an industry client in the fourth level. Marketing related studies include marketing to the consumer and business marketplace, product and pricing strategies, marketing planning and decision making, and global marketing. Marketing communications, marketing research, professional selling, sales management, and digital marketing and distribution are also covered. Learning assignments involve case studies, online discussion boards and research, role-playing, practical assignments and ongoing project work with industry partners.
What are my options to advance my education after this diploma?
Graduates of the program have the option to:
- seek full-time employment in the industry
- do a block transfer into the Business – Management and Entrepreneurship Diploma
- enter the Advertising and Marketing Communications Management Advanced Diploma program with advanced standing
- pursue several Graduate Certificate opportunities
