What is the entry requirement for this program?
You will need two years of post-secondary education from any discipline. Applicants who have event management experience and/or a combination of event management experience and education may be considered.

Is there a work experience component?
You will complete 112 hours of field work experience which can be earned through a variety of in-person and virtual placement opportunities that we provide.

What kinds of things will I study in the program?
You will learn how to apply the following when planning an event: logistics, operations, risk management, project development and planning, financials, human resource management and marketing.

Will we plan an event?
Yes! Students will join a team to plan and execute an in-person or virtual fundraising event within the community. This experiential learning opportunity will provide you with the opportunity to utilize the skills and knowledge you learn in the academic classes.

How long is the program and when would I start?
The program is two semesters and you can choose either to start in September and graduate in April or start in January and graduate in August.

Where are the job opportunities?
Graduates find work in a variety of locations including corporations, hospitals, associations, museums, sports organizations, festivals, wedding planning companies, hotels, tourism and travel organizations, restaurants and bars, marketing companies, charities, entertainment organizations, drama and arts organizations, educational institutions, and trade show companies.

Is attendance mandatory and are any of the classes online?
It is highly recommended that you attend all classes scheduled on campus in addition to team meetings. We have two event projects classes and attendance is mandatory. Five of the courses are through online delivery. Students will be on campus approximately 3 – 4 days a week. (Note: this changes each semester.)

Will I need to purchase a computer for use in the classroom and what computer skills are required?
Yes, we are a mobile learning program and you will need a laptop. Applicants should have a good knowledge of the Microsoft office products.
