How long is the program and when are classes?
Students can begin their studies in September or January. It is expected that students who start in January will attend semester 2 in the spring.

The program is delivered over two semesters in a variety of course formats including classroom and online. The curriculum covers all topics related to the human resources management profession and focuses on building human resources management knowledge required to act as a strategic partner to any organization. Level 01 courses provide a background in finance and accounting, organizational behaviour, project management and employment law. Qualified students also complete an unpaid field placement concurrent with Level 02, where students apply best practices in real-world organization.

Can I work while doing this program?
As this is a very rigorous graduate program, students both self-report and are advised to plan to work less than ten hours per week while completing this program.

Can I receive Advanced Standing?
Undergraduate level courses cannot be applied towards graduate course exemptions for this graduate program. Graduate-level courses may be applied for exemptions toward this graduate program, pending an academic evaluation.

What will I learn?
Human resources professionals work with all other business areas in organizations to foster employee productivity to achieve organizational goals. Students achieve this through theoretical and applied practices explored in recruitment and selection, compensation, employee and labour relations, training and development and human resources planning.

You’ll also discover the psychology of the workplace, the legal environment, accounting, and project management impact upon human resources practice. The coursework builds upon your previous education and experience and explores human resources management with regards to empirical studies and industry best practices.

Are there any designations or certifications?
Students may elect to earn a number of human resources designations including RPR, RPT, CHRP, CHRL, CPHR, SHRM-SCP, or GPHR. All of the required courses from the Human Resources Professional Association (HRPA) are within this program.
