Conduct Informal and Formal Competency Based Clinical Evaluations

Objectives:

  • Identify the foundations competency/performance based evaluation
  • Distinguish the significance of an observation versus judgment.
  • Develop self-awareness of personal teaching styles.
  • Uncover tools/methods to support and promote the faltering or failing student

Introduction

Competency based clinical evaluations are created to assess student performance modelling the legislative competency profile, current best practices and program requirements. In order to conduct such evaluations, we will identify the foundations of the competency based evaluation and performance based evaluation, and distinguishes observation versus judgement when reviewing learner’s performance. We will also demonstrate how to distinguish your own personal teaching style and have an understanding of the different learning styles. Last, will be tools and methods to support and promote the faltering/failing student.
