COVID-19 Testing Matrix

During these unprecedented times, the College understands that our employee’s ability to be at work can be challenged as a result of COVID-19. To help employees and managers understand how any absences should be coded, please consult the COVID-19 Testing Matrix. Change to CPAP Machines Claims Administration

Effective January 1, 2021, Sun Life will no longer reimburse for CPAP machines in cases of mild obstructive sleep apnea. This change will affect members with newly diagnosed mild sleep apnea as well as existing plan members who choose to purchase a new CPAP machine once their five (5) year frequency limit has expired. Please note, Sun Life will continue to reimburse Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machines for moderate and severe diagnoses.

The Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH) defines mild sleep apnea as an Apnea-Hypopnea Index (AHI) of under 15. Residents of Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan may be eligible for provincial funding.

NEW! Benefits Information for Over-Age Dependents

The new academic year is quickly approaching, which means it is time to verify over-age dependents status for your benefits.

Employee records for over-age dependents must be updated to ensure that these dependents meet the eligibility to continue with benefits coverage for the next academic year. Dependents who are age 21 and over (up to age 25) may still be eligible for benefits coverage if they are a full-time post-secondary student.

If you have an over-age dependent, please submit proof of student status for your dependent to ACPenBen@algonquincollege.com by August 31, 2020.

See communique for more information.
