Alternatives to Writing on the Whiteboard

Use PowerPoint as a Whiteboard

Type your comments into individual slides.
Rather than put into presentation mode, work in PowerPoint’s edit mode.
When you Share Screen in Zoom, select Share Portion of Screen and re-size the bounding box around the slide that you wish to show.

If you just wish to annotate what is on your prepared slides, presentation mode allows you to use annotations.

How-To’s: Using the Document/Hover Camera

Use the document/hover camera as an alternate to writing on the board. You can also show physical objects via the camera such as tools, books etc.

How to Switch to the Document/Hover Camera in Zoom

Click on Share Screen
Click on the Advanced tab.
Click on the icon for the document camera (Share Content from 2nd Camera).
