Library Reserves

The Library Reserve system provides students with access to supplemental course materials. Reserve materials may include books, audiovisual materials, and other course-related resources. Materials may be available for Library use only or may circulate for a short period, depending on the item and campus.

Reserve materials are intended to provide convenient, shared access to course resources.

  • Reserve items may be available for 3 hours in the Library only.
  • Depending on the item and campus, some materials may circulate for a 1-day or 3-day loan.
  • Reserve items cannot be renewed.
  • Please return reserve materials promptly so other students have an opportunity to use them.
  • Please check with your Campus Library for specific borrowing conditions.

Faculty may place the following materials on reserve:

  • Items from the Library Collection
  • Faculty-owned materials, such as personal copies
  • Other appropriate course materials

For materials that are expected to be in high demand, faculty are encouraged to use a ratio of one copy per 30 students. This helps provide equitable access to materials across the class.
