Technology in the Library
The Library provides a range of technology and self-service options to help you work, study, and collaborate.
Laptops
Front Desk Laptop Loans
Laptops are available to borrow from the Library Front Desk during service hours.
- Available to current Algonquin College students with a valid AC Card.
- First time borrowers will be asked to review and sign a Terms of Use Contract.
- Laptops are loaned out daily and must be returned 30 minutes before closing.
Laptop Lockers
Self-service laptop lockers provide a convenient way to borrow and return laptops independently.
- Available 24/7
- First time borrowers must visit the Library Front Desk to have a pin generated.
- Requires a valid AC Card and adherence to Library borrowing policies.
Self-Service Borrowing
Self-Checkout Stations
Self-checkout station located in Collection Rooms I & II makes it quick and easy to borrow library materials using your AC Card.
At a self-checkout station, you can:
- Borrow up to 10 books
- Renew eligible library materials
- View items currently checked out to your account
Book Lockers
Book lockers provide a convenient way to pick up requested library materials.
- Pick up holds at your convenience with 24/7 access
- When your hold is ready, you’ll receive a notification with pickup instructions.
- Visit the locker location, scan your AC Card, and retrieve your items.
Desktop Computers
Desktop computers are available throughout the Library for student use. They provide access to academic software, online resources, and printing services to support coursework and research.
Features:
- Login with your College Network Account username and password
- Print from any Library computer
Printing, Copying & Scanning
Print, copy, and scan documents using the Library’s self-service multifunction devices.
Services include:
- Black and white printing
- Color printing
- Photocopying
- Document scanning
Printing and copying require funds to be loaded onto your AC Card. Scanned documents can be sent to email or saved digitally.

Borrow Technology & Accessories
Forgot an essential accessory? The Library lends a variety of technology items to help you stay productive while studying. Items can be borrowed from the Library Front Desk and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Available equipment may include:
- Phone charging cables and blocks
- Headphones
- HDMI cables
- Computer mice
- Calculators
- Other accessories
Technology-Enabled Desks
Many study spaces throughout the Library are equipped with built-in power to keep your devices charged while you work.
These desks include:
- Standard electrical outlets
- USB charging ports
- USB-C charging ports
