Some 1,700 potential students and family members visited the Ottawa campus Saturday for the 2017 Winter Open House, where they visited information booths highlighting the many programs offered at the College.

Open House was also held at the Perth campus, where visitors learned about the programs offered there and what the campus has to offer.

The information booths on the Ottawa campus were set up in the Marketplace Food Court, and were staffed by representatives from each program, with both educators and students stationed to answer questions from the visitors.

The booths also displayed some of the more unique aspects of the programs, including a 3D printer that was busy working away at creating an Algonquin logo, and a “Banana Piano” set up for aspiring fruit-musicians at the Library Technician booth. A cooking demonstration was also on display at the Tourism and Hospitality booth, with vanilla ice cream and warm flambéd berries on the menu.

In addition to the information booths, campus tours brought potential students and their families to hot spots across the campus.

“I really liked the Social Service Worker tour,” said Miranda, a high school student visiting the campus.”It was really informative, and let me see more of the school. I liked how it showed off some of the classrooms we would be in.”

For those eager to register to the school, an “Onsite Application Station” was set up in the middle of the Marketplace, allowing for anyone to quickly apply to the program of their choice.
