More than 240 learners at Algonquin College begin their journey toward becoming the next generation of nurses

Oct. 14, 2026, Ottawa, ON – Applications are now open for the next intake of Algonquin College’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Honours) program, following the arrival of more than 240 students in the program’s inaugural cohort this fall. With more than 160 students studying at the Ottawa Campus and more than 80 at the Pembroke Campus, the College is already helping prepare the next generation of nurses to meet growing healthcare needs across the region. Kidandagàdji (Congratulations): Algonquin College Prepares to Celebrate 2026 Convocation

OTTAWA (June 22, 2026) — From June 23-26 the Canadian Tire Centre will be filled with celebration, excitement, and pride as more than 12,000 eligible Algonquin College graduates take part in 2026 Convocation ceremonies.

“As we celebrate the accomplishments of the Class of 2026, we also recognize the resilience, determination, and commitment to learning that have brought them to this milestone,” said Claude Brulé, President and CEO, Algonquin College. “Our graduates leave Algonquin with the skills, knowledge and experiences needed to make meaningful contributions in their communities, workplaces, and professions. Algonquin College expands support for Indigenous women thanks to CFUW-Ottawa’s gift in memory of Savanna Pikuyak

Ottawa, ON (June 11, 2026) – Algonquin College is pleased to announce that CFUW-Ottawa has donated $25,000 to establish a new bursary in memory of Savanna Pikuyak, a young Inuk woman and Algonquin College student whose tragic death in 2022 deeply affected our community.

The CFUW-Ottawa Savanna Pikuyak Memorial Bursary awards $5,000 each year to an Indigenous student who identifies as a woman and is enrolled in Practical Nursing, Pre-Health Sciences, or the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Honours). The bursary’s main goal is to financially support Indigenous students so they can overcome financial barriers and find safe housing in Ottawa. First preference will be given to students who, like Savanna, come from northern communities in Canada.
