Algonquin College launches AC Online campus

OTTAWA (March 6) — Algonquin College’s newest campus, AC Online, can only be visited in cyberspace.

The digital-only campus will meet increasing learner demand for flexible, personalized and quality online content.

AC Online builds on the College’s record as a trailblazer in online education. In 2019, Algonquin College was ranked first in online enrolments among all Canadian colleges and CEGEPS.

AC Online offers a customized, full-support service model. From the latest digital tools and interactive elements to an array of student supports, the goal is to deliver learner-driven education. The online campus will feature more than 65 online programs and 800 online courses, including interest courses, part-time programs, and full-time programs.

“From the moment a learner contacts us about online education, to the moment they graduate, they will receive the same support as someone who studies at any of our other campuses,” Claude Brulé, Algonquin College President and CEO, said at Friday’s launch event for the new campus.

At AC Online, students receive personalized assistance from enrollment to graduation. Supports include academic Pathway Advisors and Student Success Specialists that offer guidance, accommodation and learning strategies. The online campus aims to deliver many of the same supports and services as a physical campus.

“AC Online will continue to position Algonquin College as a leader in this sector both provincially and nationally,” said Sara Munroe, Acting AC Online Dean.

Students increasingly want a choice in how and when they learn. They want to pursue education from their homes, when they’re on the road, in between picking up their children or caring for a parent, early in the morning or late at night. AC Online’s innovative support systems and flexibility cater to all demographics – from recent high school graduates and working professionals to lifelong learners.
