Kidandagàdji (Congratulations): Algonquin College Prepares to Celebrate 2026 Convocation

OTTAWA (June 22, 2026) — From June 23-26 the Canadian Tire Centre will be filled with celebration, excitement, and pride as more than 12,000 eligible Algonquin College graduates take part in 2026 Convocation ceremonies.

“As we celebrate the accomplishments of the Class of 2026, we also recognize the resilience, determination, and commitment to learning that have brought them to this milestone,” said Claude Brulé, President and CEO, Algonquin College. “Our graduates leave Algonquin with the skills, knowledge and experiences needed to make meaningful contributions in their communities, workplaces, and professions. We are proud of all they have achieved and excited to see the impact they will make as they begin the next chapter of their journeys.”

Algonquin College will also award honorary degrees to two distinguished Canadian leaders: General Jennie Carignan, Chief of the Defence Staff, and Leah Levesque, former CEO of Arnprior Regional Health. Both are being recognized for careers defined by exceptional leadership, service, and commitment to lifelong learning.

Each convocation procession is accompanied by members of the SpiritWolf Singers. Using the traditional languages of the Anishinabek People, their song offers a message of encouragement, and the powerful beat of the drum represents the heartbeat of Mother Earth.

This year, Algonquin College has included Anishìnabemowin congratulatory phrases in their Convocation social media content:

  • Kidapìteninimin (We are proud of you)
  • Kidandagàdji (Congratulations)
  • Kigì kashkiyàbimewiz (You did it)
  • Kidandagiz (You’re doing great)
  • Ayàngwàmizig (Best wishes)
