Algonquin College partners with the Kanata North Business Association to bring industry leaders, partners and graduates together

Algonquin College and the Kanata North Business Association are joining forces this week to bring industry leaders, innovators, alumni and partners together at Hub350 for two events focused on strengthening connections between the College and Kanata North’s technology community. The week features Innovation Exchange: Connecting Ideas, Talent and Opportunity, bringing together industry and innovation leaders, and Alumni Exchange, connecting alumni with careers, leadership and industry.

“The best way to prepare for what’s next is to build it together. As opportunities grow in national defence, advanced technologies, cybersecurity and other emerging sectors, Algonquin College is working alongside industry, government and community partners to develop the talent, skills and research capacity needed to support innovation and growth,” said Julie Beauchamp, Senior Vice President, Academic.

Algonquin College has a long history of connecting learners with meaningful opportunities across the Kanata North technology ecosystem. Through co-op and work-integrated learning, hundreds of learners have gained valuable industry experience with leading employers in the community, including 153 work terms secured in the 2025–2026 academic year alone.

“Canada’s most advanced technology is being designed, developed and built here in Kanata North – Canada’s Largest Technology Park – and Algonquin College graduates are an important part of the talent behind that work. Across our technology park, their graduates are contributing every day to teams driving innovation in telecommunications, defence, aerospace, software, cybersecurity, advanced manufacturing and beyond. Algonquin’s strong connection to industry and focus on applied, industry-relevant skills makes them an incredibly important partner to our ecosystem. As technology continues to evolve, strengthening that connection between industry, educators and students will be critical to developing the talent our companies need and creating meaningful pathways for the next generation to build their careers right here in Canada’s Largest Technology Park,” said Kelly Daize, Executive Director, Kanata North Business Association.

Algonquin College continues to support the region’s workforce through a full-cycle approach that includes talent development, work-integrated learning, applied research and professional training. The School of Advanced Technology currently serves more than 6,300 learners in fields such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, software development and automation.

As part of Algonquin College’s Feature Week with the Kanata North Business Association, the College will also host an Alumni Exchange at Hub350, connecting graduates and industry on Wednesday, Sept. 23.

Alumni Exchange gives us an opportunity to bring people together, hear their stories firsthand and celebrate the many ways they are contributing to their communities. It is always rewarding to see how their Algonquin College experience continues to shape the world around them,” said Mark Savenkoff, Vice President, External Relations at Algonquin College.

Algonquin College proudly boasts more than 240,000 graduates, who are industry leaders across many sectors, including healthcare, creative interdisciplinary roles, advanced technology, community and wellness, public safety, culinary hospitality, and business. Algonquin College graduates have won Emmys and Oscars; have been Mayors, CEOs, Olympians, artists, entrepreneurs, social change leaders, nurses, doctors, chefs and sommeliers, firefighters, police officers, advertising executives, and so much more.

Professional Training supported more than 3,300 learners and more than 800 employers during fiscal year 2025-26 through 76 courses, three College certificates and eight industry certification programs. Ninety-one per cent of learners rated their experience four or five out of five.

Innovation Exchange brings together employers, academic leaders and community partners to identify emerging workforce needs and explore opportunities for collaboration.
