R3 Project moves onto the next Project Phase

We are excited to announce that the R3 Project team is advancing to the next stage of the College Transformation Project: The Technical Testing Phase. Also known as the Integrated System Testing (IST) Phase, this crucial step involves thorough testing and refinement to ensure our systems and processes are ready for full implementation. This work will be done while we complete the rest of the deliverables from the Design and Develop Phase, also known as the Personalize Phase.

What to Expect in the IST Phase

Comprehensive System Testing

Business Process Optimization

A flowchart with start, three points, and a checkmark at the end. Alongside system testing, we will focus on end-to-end testing of Algonquin College’s business processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. This includes testing integrations with key applications such as Brightspace to ensure smooth operation across all platforms.

Expert Testing Team

To ensure accuracy and reliability, Thesis members, Business Analysts (BAs), and Business Systems Analysts (BSAs) will test the new software. Their insights and expertise are invaluable in this process. Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) will then have an opportunity to conduct testing during the next phase of the project.

Training and Development

Training development for both General and Core Users will be completed during this phase.

Feedback and Issue Resolution

Two speech bubbles, one with hands shaking and one with a pencil writing text. The R3 Project and Thesis teams will analyze test results and address any technical issues to ensure a smooth transition to the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Phase.

Reflecting on the Design and Develop Phase

The IST Phase builds upon the foundation laid during the Design and Develop Phase, also known as the Personalize Phase. In this earlier phase, we:

  • Built and designed Business Processes
  • Implemented configurations for Thesis SM
  • Mapped and tested data migrations
  • Moved required data for systems that currently ‘talk’ with GeneSIS to a secure integration platform for future information-sharing with Thesis SM
  • Finalized the AC-specific approach and plan for Thesis SM training
  • Continued engagement across College departments and faculties

So, what is next?

The IST Phase will continue as we prepare for the next stage of the project, the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Phase. During UAT, key users will have the opportunity to test the final version of the new SIS. Stay tuned for more updates about IST and what this phase means for you!
