The R3 Project includes multiple phases, and you might be interested in finding out what each one does and how they will affect the AC Community. These phases allow Algonquin College’s R3 Project team and Thesis—the vendor providing the new Student Information System (SIS), Thesis Student Management (Thesis SM)—to plan and coordinate project milestones within targeted end dates.
When you hear the term, R3 Project, the first thing that probably comes to mind is the introduction of a new Student Information System (SIS). But there is so much more to the R3 Project than that.
In order to bring the Project to full life, there are streams involved that tie it all together. And that’s what we’re going to talk about today.
As a key focus of the R3 Project, we’re reviewing and redesigning our Business Processes in order to find ways to increase student success and satisfaction, improve employee satisfaction and productivity, and more.
Whenever someone brings up the R3 Project, you’ve probably heard the term, Business Process, mentioned many times. But what is a Business Process, exactly? How does it work? How does it play a role in the R3 Project? And… what does it mean for you, personally?
These are all great questions, and so we’re going to start from the beginning with the goal to make you know exactly what we’re talking about when we say we’re redesigning Business Processes in the R3 Project.

The R3 Project is an ambitious undertaking, so it needs a firm set of objectives to guide the College throughout the Project’s duration. By establishing these objectives, we will stay connected to the “Why” behind the Project.

Our July 19 Showcase Event will be an opportunity for employees to get an R3 Project refresher, which will also act as a great introductory lesson for new staff members. During the Showcase, we will provide an overview of the R3 Project – including its objectives and project phases – as well as host a guided tour of the new SIS, Thesis SM.
There are many elements tied to the R3 Project, and—we get it—it can be a lot of information to digest when learning about it. To try to best explain the College’s Transformation Project, we’re going to head to the car lot, and pull out a good, old-fashioned analogy.
So, jump in and buckle up. Let’s break (brake? Sorry, we couldn’t resist) this project down in an easy-to-understand way that will help tie all the elements together.
