Communicating with Learners about Thesis Student Portal – Part 2
Posted on Friday, May 9th, 2025

Welcome to our ongoing discussion about how we’re communicating the launch of the new Student Portal with our learners. As part of the transition from GeneSIS to Thesis Student Management, the new Student Portal will replace ACSIS as the primary platform where learners can pay fees, enrol in courses, and access many other important services.
This post continues from where we left off in our Communicating with Learners about Thesis Student Portal – Part 1 blog post. If you haven’t read it yet, we encourage you to check it out.
Now, we’ll delve deeper into online resources the R3 Project’s Organizational Change Management (OCM) team is preparing to work towards a smooth transition for our learners.
Changing to the new portal brings many improvements. Some of these improvements include 24/7 availability, more frequent updates, and a more user-friendly look. This change also brings new ways of using the portal. With this in mind, the team is creating eLearning resources and a central web page for learners.
eLearning
Multiple learning modes will be offered to learners, primarily short video tutorials that guide them on completing tasks in the system, and short, quick guides that combine screenshots and clear, simple explanations of these tasks.

Student Portal Compass
There will be an online hub for learners where they can access communications and resources – the Student Portal Compass. This website will include links to eLearning, the Registrar’s Office, cutover period preparation checklists, and FAQs.

Additionally, a list of emails sent to learners will be available on the website, ensuring both employees and learners can stay informed.
