Learner Benefits Part 2: Improving Overall Communications for AC Learners

With the launch of a new Student Portal and Student Information System comes a lot of benefits for everyone. Not only that, but the work being done on the R3 Project is directly connected to the Mission and Vision of Algonquin College, which aims to help our learners achieve lifelong success and become global leaders.

Similarly, we’re working on modernizing the supporting technology, and this all comes back to the R3 Project and the College’s Mission and Vision. While this does have lasting impacts on both employees and learners, we’re going to continue to focus on our learners and highlight what kind of benefits they can expect once they start using the new Student Portal.

Now, without further ado, our next benefit is Improved Communications.

What do we mean by Improved Communications?

The new Student Portal will have embedded communications. For example, learners will have a new Applicant Checklist where they can see where they are in the application process and identify if they need to act on any outstanding application steps.

Essentially, the Applicant Checklist will make the application process a lot easier for our learners. All necessary information will be clearly laid out for learners as they navigate through their application journey – no more doubts or second guessing!

What are the benefits?

To put it simply, the modern and simplified look of the Applicant Checklist will make the entire experience more enjoyable for our learners. They’ll be able to expand lists to view applications, which is especially handy if there are multiple pending applications. Most importantly, all the information that our learners will have access to is clear and easy to understand.

We also presented the Applicant Checklist at our February 2023 Showcase event! Samantha Harris, former Business Systems Analyst with the R3 Project, walked participants through a live demo to illustrate how the Applicant Checklist will help improve communications for learners.

The learner benefits don’t stop here! Aside from the Personalized Learner Experience and Improved Communications, there are many benefits that will have a continued and lasting impact on our learners.
