Themed Community
An opportunity to live and learn with like-minded peers!
Themed communities provide an opportunity for students with a shared interest to live in one section of the building. Our themed community for the Fall 2025-Winter 2026 terms is Healthy Active Living!
Students with an interest in anything health and wellness are welcome to apply! This includes, but is not limited to, exercise, self-care, and mental wellbeing. However you define healthy or active living – if it’s important to you, we invite you to join!
One of the key benefits of being in the themed community is that you are guaranteed to have a shared interest with your roommate and neighbours! We also offer additional events specific to the theme that you will be invited to.
All normal residence fees and processes apply, the only difference to being in a themed community is your placement in the building near like-minded peers.
How do I apply to join the Themed Community?
In your residence application, you will be asked if you are interested in the themed community. If you are, you will be asked to briefly explain your interest in joining the themed community.
Is there an extra cost?
No, there is no additional cost beyond standard residence fees.
Can I choose my own roommate?
Yes. If you are accepted to the themed community, you will only see other residents who were accepted in the roommate matching portal.
What if I have a medical condition that I would like considered with my residence room assignment?
Students living in the themed community will be together in one part of the building. Please list any accommodation considerations in the medical section of the housing portal after being accepted to residence.
What kind of events can I expect?
We expect events to focus on things like sports nights and health/wellness workshops. A majority of the events will be based on the feedback and ideas of students living in the community.
Is there a large time commitment?
No, there is no time commitment at all! Events offered to students in the Themed Community are all optional.
