Career Counselling

Career counselling is a service provided to current students to help you chart a career direction that works for you. Algonquin’s counselling team is a group of professionals trained in the art of helping students develop a workable career plan. Get help if you’re questioning your program choice, uncertain about your career goals, or in jeopardy of you failing your program.

Call or visit the Welcome Centre (3rd floor of Student Commons/E Building, 613-727-4723 ext. 7200) and ask for a career counselling appointment.

Employment Support Centre

Take advantage of this awesome career resource! The Employment Support Centre provides job search assistance to students and graduates, including resume and cover letter reviews, interview preparation, networking tips, and job search strategies. The ESC also hosts a variety of recruitment and networking events and career fairs, including the Career Networking Fair (held annually in February), which brings more than 70 employers from a variety of industries to campus to meet with Algonquin students and grads.

Where to find us?
The Employment Support Centre office has relocated to Room C226 (2nd Floor, C Building). This is the same room as the Cooperative Education Office. To book a virtual Zoom or in-person appointment with one of our Employment Officers: 

  1. Visit HireAC.ca
  2. Click on Student Login (This will bring you to your ACSIS login page)
  3. Once you log into ACSIS, scroll down on the left-hand side column and click on HireAC
  4. Next, select the Career & Employment menu on the left-hand side of the screen, followed by the “Book an Appointment” option

View full-time, part-time, and summer employment opportunities in a variety of industry and career fields and set up alerts to be notified when opportunities in your field are posted. Resume, Cover Letter, and Interview Support

Get quick help with your resume or cover letter during weekly drop-in hours, or book an appointment with an Employment Officer to get one-on-one support with job searching strategies, mock interviews, targeted resume and cover letter review, and your LinkedIn profile. These services are available both to current students and grads.

Work Study Program

At Algonquin, you can study and work part-time through on-campus job opportunities. Students in financial need of employment opportunities on campus can check out the College Student Employment Program (CSEP) for eligibility.
