Stephany Castilla wins 2012 Dianne Bloor Part-time Faculty Award

Stephany Castilla, a graphic designer in the marketing services division at Algonquin College, and a professor at the School of Arts, Media & Design, has won the 2012 Dianne Bloor Part-time Faculty Award. The award — presented to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding performance at the college over the past three years — focuses on a commitment to teaching, and an ability to excite students to learn and achieve through a variety of teaching methodologies. Stephany CastillaIn presenting the award to Stephany, Vice President, Student Services, Deborah Rowan-Legg, commented, “Stephany shows great passion and commitment to teaching … She is constantly thinking of better ways to engage and help her students, inside and outside of the classroom.” Stephany feels her goal “is to guide students in an engaging way, using emerging educational technologies to facilitate deep learning with a strong focus on student success.” In addition to her work at Algonquin College, she is an exhibiting fine artist with the Ottawa West Arts Association and the Nepean Fine Art League.
