ohtrust_logo March 2016: Congratulations to the Dry Stone Walling Association of Canada (DSWA), which recently received the Lieutenant Governor’s Ontario Heritage Award for Excellence in Conservation. The award follows the DSWA’s successful Canadian International Dry Stone Wall Festival, which was held at Amherst Island in September 2015. John Scott, Masonry—Heritage and Traditional Professor, Andrea Cross and the DSWA Board of Directors (which includes Masonry—Heritage and Traditional graduates John Bland, Kenny Davies and Andre Lemieux) organized the festival, which showcased the centuries-old dry stone walls of Amherst Island. Several Masonry—Heritage and Traditional students and graduates participated in the event, which was covered on an episode of the Rick Mercer Report. The DSWA is looking forward to hosting a Stone Festival right here in Perth on July 22-24, 2016.
